Richard A. Martin, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 1, 2021. Richard was born in Norwich, Connecticut to George A. and Antoinette M. (Goderre) Martin. His family moved to Andover when he was a small child and he grew up, went to school and raised his family there as well. He attended Andover High School and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served from 1956 to 1962. Richard was known for his quick wit and humor. He loved to visit and was certainly the life of the party when he was younger. Many people would spend time singing and laughing around our kitchen table. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and just being outside. Animals were a big part of his life and he had many. He earned his living as a carpenter and was extremely talented, building both of his homes. He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Jane (Locke) Martin, his daughter's Deborah Martin and Jackie (Martin) Adams. Four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Rubin Adams, Kaitlin Raymond and her husband Eddie, Taylor Anderson and fiancee Miranda King, Riley Anderson, Brantley Anderson and little Axel Raymond.  His brother George and his wife Mary Martin of Chester. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Jeanne Putney and a brother Alfred Martin.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful personnel at the Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice for making his last days a little brighter. Special thanks to Michele, Scott, Grace, Cinnamon and Maureen. We ask that in lieu of flowers, you consider a donation to Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice, 107 Newport Road, New London, NH 03257. At this time there will be no public services. The William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton is assisting the Martin family.
