Janet G. Knight, 93, of Franklin, NH passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 26th, 2017. Janet was born in Lebanon, NH, on June 30th, 1924, the third daughter of James and Etta Wilbur Graham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Wayne H. Knight. Janet and Wayne were married in 1946 and began married life in Lebanon. Janet created homes out of many houses in several NH towns over the years before returning to Lebanon in the early 2000’s. Janet was not your typical 1950’s wife and mother; in addition to taking care of her family, she also worked at various times as a bank teller at Franklin Savings Bank, a tailor for Decato’s Menswear and was a talented seamstress. Once her children were on their own Janet started a new career in the medical field beginning as a home health aide and then as the director of Mascoma Home Health Services and finally director of the Visiting Nurse Alliance of Vermont and New Hampshire. Nursing had always been one of Janet’s interests. She completed two years of nursing training at Massachusetts General Hospital after graduating from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines Iowa. One of her greatest accomplishments was finishing her schooling and earning her BS in Health Administration and Planning from the University of New Hampshire at age 60. Janet was also an artist and loved designing and making hooked rugs, painting, knitting and crocheting both garments and amigurumi figures.
A graveside service will be held later in the year at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 D.W. Highway, Boscawen, burial will follow.
