Ada W. Suydam
Ada W. Suydam, 83, a longtime resident of Needham and a resident of Franklin, NH, died on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Peabody Home in Franklin, NH following a brief illness with her husband by her side. Ada was born in Newton, MA on February 15, 1935 the daughter of Henry and Grace (Chase) Whitmore. She was a graduate of Newton High School and Lasell College. On June 18th 1960, Ada married William T. Suydam and together they settled in Needham. Ada worked as a health care aide until she found her true calling and started her own dog care business. Anyone who knew Ada understood her love of dogs. Together with her husband Bill, they devoted themselves to dog rescue efforts through their work with the organization Dog Orphans.
Ada had a sense of adventure and enjoyed many great experiences traveling the world with Bill. Above all else, Ada loved spending time with family. This was especially true at Christmas. Ada was the "Christmas Queen". She loved and preserved the traditions of the season and always made the holidays special.
Ada is survived by the love of her life, her husband, William T. Suydam of Franklin, NH. She is also survived by her two sisters, Elizabeth "Bessa" Whitmore of Ottawa, Canada and Carolyn Baldwin of Concord, NH. along with many nieces and nephews.
According to Ada's wishes, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
