Ronald M. Bucklin
Ronald M. Bucklin, 74, a longtime resident of Bristol, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at his home after a long illness. Ronald was born in Franklin on April 2, 1943, the son of Earl Bucklin and Marion (Corliss) Simpson. He graduated from Bristol Memorial High School in 1961 where he was a two time First Team All State Basketball Player. After graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force stationed in Germany. He attained the rank of Airman 2nd Class, and was a 3 season athlete playing basketball, baseball, and football on USAF teams throughout Europe.
Ron coached Newfound area youth in baseball for 20 years. He was head coach of the Newfound Memorial HS baseball team from 87-89, making the state semi-finals in 1988. He coached the Newfound Babe Ruth program for many years and Senior Babe Ruth in Plymouth from 87-89. He also coached in the Bristol Community Center little league and basketball program for many years, being honored in 1995 for his years of dedication.
Ron was a machinist at Freudenberg NOK in Bristol for 31 years. He was later employed at Wal-Mart and the Newfound Area School District as a currier, retiring in 2013. Ron was a member of the Board of Directors of the Slim Baker Foundation for Outdoor Education. He enjoyed ice fishing, snowmobiling, and golf but most of all time with family.
Ron leaves his wife of 49 years Marilyn (Sterner) Bucklin, 2 sons Tom Bucklin of Alexandria and Randy and his wife Heather of Lewiston ME, grandsons Reese and Jaden Bucklin of Lewiston and his sister Gail Nyberg of Bristol.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday 5:00 – 7:00PM at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road (584 West Main St.), Tilton.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Grace Chapel of Holy Trinity Parish, 2 West Shore Road, Bristol. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery, Bristol.
