Harry "Gus" Augustus Lawrence
Harry "Gus" A. Lawrence 85, a resident of Franklin, NH, died Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Genesis Center in Franklin following a period of failing health.
Gus (as he was known to everyone) was born in Boston, MA, October 5, 1931, son of the late Harry Sr. and Mildred (Hall) Lawrence. He was raised in Quincy, MA where he attended local schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School, class of 1949. Gus worked as a plumber and was a longtime member of the Local 12 Plumber's Union. He was also a member of the "Old Colony" chapter of DeMolay, the Franklin Lodge of Elks, BPOE, #1280 in Franklin, NH, and the Wollaston Congregational Church in Quincy, MA.
The most wonderful part of life for Gus was his family, which he loved and respected deeply. After many years as a member of his Union in Boston, he retired to the Lakes Region in NH where he loved to be with family and friends at his Lake Winnisquam home.
Gus enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer and longtime member of Den Brae Golf Club in Sanbornton, NH where he and Carol met many great new friends.
The happiest and most memorable times for Gus following the births of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and marriage to his wife Carol, were spent fulfilling his bucket list where he, Carol and all of the family took wonderful trips together. He was a supportive and loving man who enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with family and friends, photographing every moment to create lasting memories. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched and his memory will live on forever.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Libby and her husband Earle and brother Robert Lawrence.
Gus leaves his wife Carol (Grinstead) Lawrence of Franklin; daughters, Cheryl Beausoleil and her husband Rick of Greenville, NH, Donna Scontsas and her husband George of Nashua, NH, Lisa Gadbois and fiancé Matt Morse of Nashua, NH;
six grandchildren, Aiyanna Irish, Ryan Libby, Timothy Libby, Bethanie Beausoleil, Kaitlin Gadbois, and Kellsie Gadbois; three great-grandchildren, Rebeccah Bryant, Arin Freilicher, Ford Libby, and another who will be born in November; as well as sister-in-law, Margaret Lawrence of St. Augustine, FL.
It was Gus' wish that no one mourn his passing, but rather party! Gus' wife and family invite all to the Den Brae Golf Club, 80 Prescott Road in Sanbornton, NH, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM to join in a celebration of Gus' life and share memories of him. He would expect all to dress casually or in golf attire. Private burial will be at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashua, NH.
