Claire (Lowenhaupt) Rand

Claire Rand, 88, a resident of Sanbornton since 1994, died Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Franklin Regional Hospital in Franklin, New Hampshire following a period of failing health. Surrounded by her loved ones she passed peacefully. Claire was born in Queens, New York, December 17, 1928, daughter of Frederick and Sophia (Nuels) Lowenhaupt.  She spent her youth and attended schools in Queens and moved to Sanbornton from Port Jefferson, New York.  For many years, and prior to her retirement, Claire was supervisor of the dietary department at the Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY.  She loved to laugh and enjoyed being with family.  Claire loved to have her son’s dogs over, spending time with her and the attention they gave her.  She was predeceased by her husband, Frank T. Rand who died in 1998.  She leaves,

 Her sons, Thomas Rand and his wife, Elizabeth of Rocky Point, New York.  Frank Rand and his wife, Fawn of Tilton, New Hampshire. Her granddaughter Morgan Deer and her three children, Aurora, Lucus and Sophia. Her grandson Matthew Rand and his four children, Keegan, Lily, and the twins Emmett and Charlotte of Colorado. Her Grandson Sgt Michael Rand and his wife Catherine and their daughter Cassidy of New Hampshire. Her grandson Staff Sgt Benjamin Rand and his wife Tabitha of North Carolina. Her grandson Garrett Rand of New Hampshire. A niece Arlene and her husband Walter of New York.

Claire’s family sends “special thanks” to Claire’s caregivers .

A celebration of her life will be held for her family and close friends when they gather.  She will be buried in Park Cemetery in Tilton.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions in her name to the New Hampshire Humane Society, P. O. Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
